ECC + Elementary

Dear Parents,

We are looking forward to starting clubs on Monday! It is a great time for students to learn new skills and try things they maybe haven’t tried before. I am looking forward to hearing about the new skills that the students learn while they are in clubs this spring.

In Grades 1-5, we ended February by having a House Assembly. In assembly, we played a game that took a lot of persistence to accomplish. If you have a Grade 1-5 student, please ask them what they learned about persistence during the game we played.

In the ECC, we talked about the power of the word “yet.” Sometimes, we can’t do something, but with practice and persistence, we can learn how to do new, hard things. If you have an ECC-aged child, please ask them what they can’t do “yet” but want to learn how to do in the future.

Coming into the month of March, we will be talking about ‘discernment’ and the importance of discernment in our lives every day. This is a hard quality for students to grasp, yet it is an important skill that they need to use for the rest of their lives. I can’t wait to see what discerning decisions students learn to make in March.

Warmly,

Miss Barsalou

Secondary

We are excited to see our secondary students participate in multiple Model United Nations conferences this weekend. Our high school students traveled to Yantai to take place in MUNTAI. This is the third iteration of this conference and is hosted by our sister school. This is such a great opportunity for our students and a benefit of being a member of a LifePlus school. Our middle school students are traveling to Dulwich in Beijing to participate in DIMUN. DIMUN has been a staple of our middle school program and provides a great way for new delegates to experience an MUN conference. We also had two students take on a leadership role as a chair. We are grateful for the hard work of our students and MUN teams!

For athletics, you may have heard our middle school students playing basketball in the gym or seen our high school students playing soccer on the field. Both of these things mean that season 3 has begun! Season 3 is one of my personal favorite seasons since it also means that spring is here. I look forward to seeing our students compete and am so proud that our coaches not only teach sports, but character as well. Our athletes learn valuable lessons like teamwork, selflessness, persistence, and good sportsmanship. I hope to see you cheering on our Eagles soon.
